António Pedro Santos

António Pedro Santos was born in 1974, three months ahead of the carnation revolution. He entered Lisbon Autonomous University in 1994 and graduated in Communication Sciences four years later. Photography came into his life when he was 21. An exhibition at the Portuguese Institute of Photography prompted a life change. A basic training of three months further led him into a two-year course of Advanced Studies which he completed in 1998. At a crossroad, he had to choose: photography or writing. Starting as a news writer at Diário Económico he grew unsettled by the photographers’ comings-and-goings. Three months later, he opted for photojournalism though continuing to write. António worked as a photojournalist for news outlets such as A Bola, Correio da Manhã, and Sol, and was a contributor to several national and international publications. His main professional experience came about over the last four years while working as editor of photography for ‘i’.
