From the noblest activities of prevention and protection of the village and through amusing shows of popular culture to the most serious sports competitions, the union among people tends to solve any gap there may happen and tries to overcome the usual shortage of resources. The wide variety of activities, fruit of Mora’s associative spirit, is remarkable. Although some occupations have a greater meaning and arouse more participation, it is a common practice for any group of people, motivated by their own wishes and ideas, to join forces to bring something new to the population’s attention; even when it is necessary to give oneself to the community at the expense of one’s personal life.
For a healthy understanding between the associations and the political organs of the county of Mora to go on, it is vital to keep the routine of all the cultural, sports, recreational and humanitarian interests. If, on the one hand, the associations benefit from the support given by the parish councils and the local authority, on the other hand, the latter take the advantage of offering, in a free and uncompromising way, appealing actions with an access, most of the times, free of charge.
During the months I spent in Mora, I came across some associations lost in oblivion and I heard stories about others already vanished but I also had the pleasure of facing the first steps of a sports association and the birth of a cultural group. Associations bring life to the county; actually lean but in good health.
